Originally from Madison, Wisconsin, Melissa, her husband and their two young daughters, Kaitlyn and Alice, made a permanent move to the National Capital area in August of 2019. They’d lived here before, briefly in 2015 and 2016 during a stint when Ryan was assigned to his company’s national office. Then, they rented in Old Town Alexandria, and they came to love the entire region. But when the opportunity came for a permanent move to the DMV, they knew they wanted to find a new home that could provide a long-term, nurturing place to raise their family. And that’s what brought them from Madison, WI to Brambleton, VA!

“Brambleton seems like the perfect place to raise a family,” Melissa says. “We first stepped foot here almost exactly one year ago to go house hunting and were looking for a small community feel without having to hop into the car anytime you needed to go somewhere. Brambleton almost seemed too perfect that we jokingly called it Pleasantville,” Melissa says.

The Corcoran’s family-focused, honest, Midwestern values quickly took root in Brambleton, because of its sense of community, welcoming spirit and friendly charm. Having all the conveniences of a walkable hometown in a metropolitan area where so many communities force residents to drive to everything, rather than walk or bike, also held special appeal. The Corcorans settled into Brambleton last summer as renters, while they selected their ideal neighborhood, home plan and builder. They eventually decided on the Teagarden urban townhome design by Van Metre Homes at Brambleton Town Center, and their June settlement date can’t get here quickly enough.

“We love having so many amenities close by at the Town Center, as well as having our daughters’ elementary, middle and high school within walking distance,” Melissa explains. “This will be a wonderful place for our daughters to grow up.”

The Corcorans have already immersed themselves in the endless community events, retail and dining spots, nature and neighborhood energy here in Brambleton. Melissa says that with two young daughters, their favorite spot is perhaps the library, though they also love the Town Center’s shops, the biking and walking trails, and the other recreation amenities. Melissa feels certain, though, that one of their favorite spots in Brambleton will be the very closest to home – the sky’s-the-limit rooftop deck that they’ll enjoy from Day One when they move into their new home and start taking in the summer sunshine, fireworks and the sounds of the summer concert series.

“We plan to be here until our daughters graduate high school and maybe even longer,” says Melissa. Because the Corcoran girls are only elementary school and toddler age, it looks like a long and happy life here for this energetic family who’ve relocated from Madison, Wisconsin. It’s the best of both worlds…a heartwarming hometown all year long, and the warmth that comes from a lot less snow in the winter! Welcome to Brambleton, Corcoran Family! We’re glad you’ve come home!
