Two by Four Race Against Childhood & Canine Cancers: 5K For Humans & 1 Mile Dog Jog/Fun Run
More than 350 two and four legged athletes raced to crush cancer in the first annual Two By Four Race Against Childhood & Canine Cancer on Sunday, October 1st in the Brambleton Town Center. Presented as a demonstration of what’s possible through collaboration, the Canines-N-Kids Foundation partnered with our friends at the Smashing Walnuts Foundation (childhood brain cancer) to hold this unique 5K and 1 Mile Fun Run and Dog Jog. With only 2 1/2 months to plan the race this year, the fantastic Two By Four Steering Committee worked tirelessly. We are thrilled to report that thanks to their efforts, and the generosity of our sponsors, contributors and athletes, we not only significantly raised awareness of the shared unmet need that is cancer for kids and pet dogs, but we raised more than $16,000! We will continue to build on this success as a means to fund transformative comparative cancer research, and thank everyone for their involvement. Mark your calendars for Saturday, September 29, 2018 for the 2nd Annual #2x4Race!

Installation of Pedestrian Bridge at Future Herndon Metro Station
by RestonNow.com — September 21, 2017
As work on Phase 2 of Metro’s Silver Line project continues, a pedestrian walkway was recently set over the bus loop at the Herndon-Monroe Park and Ride facility.
The walkway, which will provide access to the Silver Line’s future Herndon Station from the south side of the Dulles Toll Road, will be integrated with existing and future infrastructure at the park and ride, according to information provided by the Dulles Corridor Metrorail Project.
The pedestrian bridge from the north side of the Dulles Toll Road (westbound lanes) is scheduled to be installed this weekend.
Construction work on Phase 2 of the Silver Line, which will extend the Metrorail from Reston to Ashburn, was reported in July to be more than 60 percent done. The line is expected to be opened to the public in 2020.
