It is one thing to know you have found the right home, but it is quite another to help other people on that journey in the community that you call home yourself. Luckily, Alison Harris Burke makes this process a breeze! This Brambleton resident has made it her business to find current and potential new residents of the community homes they can feel comfortable calling their own. It’s a process that she is proud of and work that makes her smile day to day.
When she first moved to Brambleton in 2008, she was relocating from North Carolina so she could be closer to her siblings.
“I have an identical twin sister living in Ashburn and my brother lived in Haymarket, at the time. We fell in love with the community and all of the amenities. The highly-rated schools were another factor. One of my daughters was entering kindergarten with her sister a year behind her.”
At the time, Alison was working as an IT Project Manager. From there, she began work as a Teaching Assistant in our very own Legacy Elementary School. After a while, friends and family began to ask her to help them redecorate and stage their homes. She soon realized that real estate was her calling after she moved herself and her family into a new home in 2014. She now helps many families in Brambleton and beyond as they search for their next home.
Personally, Alison is a huge fan of the community’s Town Center, from Blue Ridge Grill to Scotto’s to Cold Stone. Her favorite though is Nick’s Taverna. There, she can enjoy a delicious meal as well as the company of friends, colleagues or clients who have also stopped by. Alison also loves getting outside with daughters and dogs, Shady and Sonnie, for a walk, run or bike ride along the trails or into the Town Center or grounds for an exciting event put on by the community.
“Brambleton is an amazing community offering so much to those who live here. Every school the girls have attended has been amazing. We are grateful to know so many of our neighbors who have become friends. We love being able to sit outside at many of the restaurants, being able to study at the library and have a gym right here. As Brambleton continues to grow its retail, we know we won’t have to leave the neighborhood!”
When she takes a moment to relax in the house, there is no shortage of space to do it. There are many options in her Miller and Smith townhome to spend time either inside at the kitchen island which looks into the great room or outside at the dual-sided fireplace, her favorite grilling post. Alison and her family even took advantage of their terrace last summer as a spot to place a small pool for cooling off when they weren’t able to access the community areas due to COVID.
From the homes themselves to the neighborhoods they are in, and especially the people in them, Alison’s insight and participation in the community is an asset to everyone she works with. Just ask anyone she’s helped find a home; they’ll surely be able to tell how much they love being part of Brambleton too!
