The first leaves are starting to change color, and we can feel that familiar fall crisp in the air; so, naturally, it’s time to start thinking about the best fall activities for families in Northern Virginia. From fall festivals in Loudoun County to fun fall activities at Brambleton Town Center, there’s so much happening right in our own neck of the woods.
Whether you’re in the mood for some seasonal autumn brews or you want to get Halloween trick-or-treating on the calendar for the kids, here’s what you need to have on your radar this fall.
Oktoberfest in Loudoun County is something we take very seriously! From 1 PM to 6 PM on Saturday, October 4, the Brambleton Town Center will transform into a true German Oktoberfest with BRAMtoberfest, and it’s family-friendly!
First things first, both Lost Barrel Brewing and Bear Chase Brewery will be on-site manning the beer garden. You can snag a VIP Event Bracelet to get into the 12 PM to 1 PM VIP tasting event, then spend the day hanging out in the VIP seating area while munching on the goodies from your complimentary coupons for Bad Ass Pickles and Big Face BBQ.
Want to sample all the brews from Loudoun County? No matter which ticket you choose, VIP or general admission, beginning at 1 PM, you’ll receive 14 tasting tickets to enjoy during the event.
Of course, there’s more than just beer here. There will be live music on the mainstage all afternoon, plus carnival rides and games for the kids in the Kids Zone, a vendor village, and food trucks that include Cousins Maine Lobster, Flame Theory, The Cheesy Griddle, A Southern Fish Fry and Lattimore’s Funnel Cakes.
There’s nothing that brings back fall nostalgia like a homecoming parade, and Independence High School’s Homecoming Parade is a favorite annual event in the community. From soon-to-be graduates to those who’ve already made their mark, all ages are welcome. Face painting and a DJ will start at 4 PM to get the festive school spirit pumping before the game, and the marching band will kick things off at 5 PM.
October 10 is also the last FriDaze on the Plaza of the season, so, if you’re skipping the game, stick around for live music, food, and games at Brambleton Town Center.
While trick-or-treating through Brambleton is picture-perfect, sometimes it’s easier to bring the little ones to a spot where they can load up on candy earlier in the season.
Brambleton Town Center opens up for a family-friendly Halloween event a few days before the big day, and it’s one of the most beloved Halloween activities for kids in the area. On Sunday, October 26 from 12 to 2 PM, take the kids around the Town Center to say hello to all their friends and pop in shops and restaurants for treats (not tricks)! Everyone will be dressed to the nines in their Halloween spooky, creative, and silly costumes, and there may even be a few special appearances by favorite characters.
