Friends of Brambleton Library

Join an organization that will make a positive impact on our community:  the Friends of Brambleton Library (FOBL)!  Currently in its infancy, FOBL needs volunteers who can help advise and offer support for fundraisers for programming and supplies not covered by the library’s operating budget.  Volunteer commitment is typically 5 hours per month; however, more time may be required during event planning and execution.  Introductory meetings will be held monthly until FOBL is formalized. Email FriendsOfTheBrambletonLibrary@gmail.com for more information, and be sure to “Like” their page on Facebook. We would like to extend a big thank you to Brambleton resident, Robyn Beck Dietter, who has taken on the role of organizing FOBL.

Good Works:  BTC Community Supports Multiple Charities

Kudos to our Town Center community on raising funds to help cancer research and awareness.  Through races, Zumba, Christmas tree sales, dental visits and cups of coffee, Brambletonians have contributed more than $52k to the cause this year alone! Read on to learn a little more about each organization’s mission.

NVO’s Cup for a Cure Café Fuels Pediatric Cancer Funding

At Northern Virginia Orthodontics, we are not only making life-long changes in each of our patients’ smiles, we are determined to make an impact for the entire pediatric cancer community. Inspired by several of our patients fighting this horrible disease, we felt passionate about going beyond orthodontics and becoming an advocate for all pediatric cancer patients.

As a result, in 2015, we opened our Cup for a Cure Café, in which we serve complimentary Starbucks drinks to all patients and their guests. For each cup poured, we donate $1 to Inova Children’s Hospital, specifically for pediatric cancer funding. When serving 200-300 drinks daily, this amounts to donating over $25,000 every year!! It’s more than just a cup of coffee. It’s giving back to the community, raising awareness for pediatric cancer, and reaching the ultimate goal – finding a cure.

Bloō Dental Teams with ArmorUp For Life

Bloō Dental would like to thank all of their patients who participated in their recent Zoom Whitening promotion and t-shirt sales for ArmorUp for LIFE. From Dr. Rahim’s commitment to donate 100% of the cost of all Zoom Whitening treatments in February, he and his staff were able present ArmorUp representatives with a check for $1,700.

ArmorUp for LIFE is a local non-profit dedicated to helping cancer patients, and will use these funds to outfit local cancer patients with fitness gear and clothing so they can stay fit during their fight. During the month of May, Onelife Fitness also helped raise funds for ArmorUp through the Get Fit America Campaign.  Together with Bloo Dental, the two tenants have donated nearly $3,500 to ArmorUp for LIFE!  To learn more about their mission, visit ArmorUpforLIFE.org.

Step Sisters’ 10th Annual Ribbon Run Raises Nearly $40K!

The 10th Annual Step Sisters’ Ribbon Run on April 22nd kicked off the 2017 Race Brambleton series. Nearly 1,200 registered to participate as runners and walkers while 150 volunteers supported the event and the Step Sisters in their mission to assist local breast cancer patients.  This year’s Ribbon Run saw more than 35 breast cancer survivors participating in the event, acknowledged by the group with a pink sash and a gift bag.  Truly a community event, participants had a variety of reasons for taking part. More teams participated this year with many groups forming to walk or run in the honor or memory of a loved one. Several teams also fundraised for the cause. The top fundraising team participated in support of Brambleton resident, Melanie Small, and her breast cancer fight.  The event raised nearly $40,000 for The Step Sisters who assist local breast cancer patients by funding practical support services. The Ribbon Run is the Brambleton-based organization’s largest fundraiser of the year. For more information, visit www.StepSisters.org.

Christmas Trees For A Cause

Christmas Tree Sales in Brambleton benefit the Cherry Blossom Foundation for Breast Cancer.

Suzanne and Mark Eaton have run a Christmas tree stand in Brambleton Town Center during the holidays for the past 4 year, with profits going to Loudoun’s Cherry Blossom Breast Cancer Foundation. They recently attended the Cherry Blossoms Champions Event to present a $6,000 check from their 2016 holiday tree sales.

“We selected Cherry Blossom four years ago as our beneficiary because my sister, Holly, was helped in her fight against breast cancer by one of their grants to Inova Loudoun Hospital.” Suzanne said. “This small Middleburg-based foundation was crucial to Holly’s treatment and has helped hundreds of other local women,” she added. The total donated by the Eatons since the beginning of tree sales four years ago is more than $18,000.
